Our 4 Step Grooming always yields the same result; a happy, clean and healthy pet.

Step 1: The Pre-Clip

Step 1: The Pre Clip:
  • Brush up the hair to remove dandruff and stimulate the skin and coat for rejuvenation.
  • Ear plucking, by hand or using a special tool depending on breed.
  • Pre-clip using HairVac Mobile Dog grooming system to clip the hair down to desired length.
  • Start clipping at the base of the skull Occiput holding the dog’s nose down to arch their back and give an easier clip.
  • Pre clip doesn’t look good still as we have to work the coat and skin in the tub after to get rid of the dandruff build up in the coat.
  • Gently clipping going with the lay of the coat for back and stomach areas
  • Pick leg up gently with palm of hand and clip straight down the legs.
  • Starting from Adam’s apple to the corner of the ear we clip down the lay of the coat to clip front legs and neck.
  • Lifting the front leg up makes it easier to clip and access the chest area to clip down being careful around the armpit area.
  • Now using the fan clip with a stainless steel comb to clip down the head to desired length, we usually like it keep it pretty thick out there.

Step 2: The Wash

  • Now off to the tub where we do a facial scrub to clean the debris around eyes.
  • Pre wash with Tropiclean hypo-allergic shampoo to protect dog skin
  • Rinse pads and feet and back side to prepare for deep cleaning as these are the dirtiest areas.
  • Use the face scrub to clean the face using a shampoo that is safe around the eyes, let it sit on the face for a while as we wash the rest of the body.​
  • Using a loofah gently scrub a special “degrease” shampoo on the skin, scrubbing the pads and armpits and bum, degrease shampoo will eat off the grime on skin and leave the skin fresh and clean.
  • Rinse the degrease shampoo off and then off to conditioning phase.
  • Using a diluted premixed dog grooming conditioner and apply it to skin while massaging the skin gently, sit for 3- 5 minutes​
  • Now rinse heavily with lukewarm water to cool water to get all conditioner and shampooing residue out if the skin, careful about using hot water as it is very inviting for bacteria to get into dog skin
  • Towel off to get as much water off the skin and use our special mobile dog grooming stand dryer to completely dry skin and hair.

Step 3: Ears and Nails and Paws

  • While drying we use a cotton ball with special dog ear cleansing solution to clean the insides of the ears.
  • Now use the nail trimmer to trim the nails off
  • Brush the long portions of the hair to make sure dog is perfectly dry.
  • Now that dog is dry and clean we use a clipper with a detachable head to trim the paws, basically taking off the extra hair that the dog usually is standing on or touching the ground which is prone to getting dirtiest the most.

Step 4: The Re-Clip:

  • Now we go on to re-clip the body hair but this time we use a shorter blade and go against the lay of the coat to make sure the length is even all over the body and the legs to remove any previous clipper lines that are still visible.
  • Next we will use the 10 blade for more sensitive area. We gently hold the eyebrows up and clip between the eyes and around the ear lobe and armpit area and in the private areas (the bum!)
  • We make sure to use a longer blade to make sure we don’t catch any skin and cause any irritation to our lovely pet.
  • Use scissors to trim down the eyebrows and facial hair to desired length, dogs love this part of the grooming process. This is very similar to a human haircut using a comb and pair of scissors and the cut varies depending on dog breed and owner’s desired length.
  • The last thing left to do is to trim around the base of the tail and around the feet to make sure it’s all even and neat. We usually like to keep the tail long and fluffy, a small trim and we use the thinning scissors to take some of the volume of around the base so that poo doesn’t get stuck there when dogs go to the bathroom.​
